چکیده

During August of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Gulf Mexico (GoM) was affected by two subsequent storms, Hurricanes Marco and Laura. entered GoM first (22 August) briefly promoted to a Category 1 storm. Laura followed closely (25 attained 4 status after period rapid intensification. Typically, hurricanes do not form this close together; study aims explain existence both through analysis air-sea fluxes, local thermodynamics, upper-level circulation. The its quality warm, high ocean heat content waters proved be resilient powerful reservoir moisture fuel for hurricanes; however, an area lower due circulation dynamics crucial in evolution An wind shear further explained hurricanes. Furthermore, suite satellite observations model outputs were used evaluate biophysical modulations GoM. cold core eddy (CCE) Mississippi River surface plume had greatest oceanic responses; initialized extended temporally spatially Reduced sea temperatures (SST), changes salinity (SSS), Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentrations are related translation speeds, respective contributions hurricane winds precipitation evaluated work.

Sustainable Use of Laura Lens during Drought

Laura Island, which is located about 50 km away from downtown, is a source of water supply in Majuro atoll, which is the capital of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Low and flat Majuro atoll has neither river nor lake. It is very important for Majuro atoll to ensure the conservation of its water resources. However, upconing, which is the process of partial rising of the freshwater-saltwate...

The zonoid of a d-dimensional random vector is used as a tool for measuring linear dependence among its components. A preorder of linear dependence is defined through inclusion of the zonoids. The zonoid of a random vector does not characterize its distribution, but it characterizes the size biased distribution of its compositional variables. This fact will allow a characterization of our linea...

Using Group Models to support Group Planning Interactions in MArCo

The emphasis on building co-operative/collaborative environments has brought out the issue of group interactions and conflicting situations, inevitable in group problem-solving. MArCo, our prototype, has an artificial conflict mediator that tries to provoke reflection and articulation on the solution process. In order to intervene more effectively, the mediator takes the group characteristics in...

Female hurricanes are deadlier than male hurricanes.

Do people judge hurricane risks in the context of gender-based expectations? We use more than six decades of death rates from US hurricanes to show that feminine-named hurricanes cause significantly more deaths than do masculine-named hurricanes. Laboratory experiments indicate that this is because hurricane names lead to gender-based expectations about severity and this, in turn, guides respon...
